Situated at the crossroads of the Rivers Lys and Escaut, in the heart of the Flemish region, Gent is an historic and contemporary city, with fine architecture, beautiful cathedrals, medieval castles, museums of art and lively market squares. Add to all this the gastronomic specialities of Belgium and you will be delighted by a visit to Gent!
PRE-ORDER YOUR GROCERIES
Take advantage of our online grocery ordering service which allows you to order a selection of basic provisions for your first few nights on board. This is especially useful if you are not driving to your base, or know you will be arriving after the supermarkets have closed. Simply download a provisioning list here, send it to the base and they will do your shopping for you! The cost of your groceries is payable in local currency when you arrive.
PRE-ARRANGE YOUR TAXI TRANSFER
Le Boat will be happy to arrange transfers from your arrival point to the base. Please download a taxi transfer form here and send it to the base at least 14 days prior to departure. The base receptionist will contact you directly to confirm details of your transfer.

MOBILE PHONES
In Belgium most of the locks and bridges are manned. Some of the bridge keepers operate several bridges and may not be on their bridge at the time of your arrival. To get around Brugge, you have to get in touch by phone with the people who operate the whole system of bridges and locks around Brugge from a central control.
If you do not have your own mobile phone or have a phone, which does not workabroad, you can rent one at the base.
Costs
100 € deposit
15 € per week
You must pay for the cost of all calls
The base will supply the phone with cards and the credit on the card is checked at departure and arrival. You will be asked to pay on return for what has been used.
CREDIT CARDS
Gent accept the following credit cards for payment of Security/Fuel Deposit, Damage Waiver and Optional Extras: Visa, Mastercard
Please Note: In Belgium you can pay with credit cards in restaurants, hotels, shops and some of the big supermarket chains, but not in smaller supermarkets and grocery stores.
