Beaucaire Base

Base manager Bob Ngbaronye welcomes you to Beaucaire. From the waterways of the Canal du Rhone a Sete you get a unique and magical insight to the desolate yet beautiful wetlands of the Camargue, home to and famous for its wild white horses, flocks of pink flamingos and bull-fighting bulls – as well as thousands of other species of bird and wildlife. Whilst here, take a day out to dip your toes in the sea at the fashionable resort of Saintes Maries de la Mer or walk the walls of the ancient crusader city of Aigues Mortes, one of the Camargue’s principal towns.

PRE-ORDER YOUR GROCERIES

Take advantage of our online grocery ordering service which allows you to order a selection of basic provisions for your first few nights on board. This is especially useful if you are not driving to your base, or know you will be arriving after the supermarkets have closed. Simply download a provisioning list here, send it to the base and they will do your shopping for you! The cost of your groceries is payable in local currency when you arrive.

PRE-ARRANGE YOUR TAXI TRANSFER

Le Boat will be happy to arrange transfers from your arrival point to the base. Please download a taxi transfer form here and send it to the base at least 14 days prior to departure. The base receptionist will contact you directly to confirm details of your transfer.

BASE OPENING HOURS

Monday - Sunday: 09:00 - 12:30 14:00 - 17:45

Please note that if you have pre-booked an Early Check-In, then the base will be open for your arrival.

LATE ARRIVALS

If you are going to be arriving at the base late, you will need to inform the base directly or the general sales office where you booked. When you arrive at the base there will be a note on the reception door informing you where your boat is. The boat will be left open with the lights on for you to stay on board that night. The base staff will do the full briefing the following morning.

FISHING

Fishing is allowed on the canal. A fishing permit is not required after Franquevaux which is just 4 hours cruising from the base.

From Calais: Take A26 to Reims, then A4 to Chalon en Champagne. Then follow the A26 to Troyes follow on to A5 Langres, A31 to Beaune, A6 to Lyons, A7 to Orange and A9 through to Remoulins. Leave motorway A9 Remoulins and follow signs for Beaucaire and continue to town centre. On descending a straight wide road (Boulevard Marechal Foch) go straight over roundabout and straight on over bridge. At the next roundabout, take the first exit (signposted Fourques) and immediately a sharp right in front of a flower shop. Follow the road alongside of the canal , passing an old boat yard. The Le Boat Base is at the end of this road (signposted). Road distance approximately 1020 kms 9 hrs.

From Paris: Take the A6 to Lyons, then A7 to Orange and then A9 through to Remoulins. Leave Autoroute A9 at Remoulins and follow signs for Beaucaire and continue to town centre. On descending a straight wide road (Boulevard Marechal Foch) go straight over roundabout and straight on over bridge. At the next roundabout, take the first exit (signposted Fourques) and immediately a sharp right in front of a flower shop. Follow the road alongside of the canal , passing an old boat yard. The Le Boat Base is at the end of this road (signposted). Road distance approximately 700 kms 6.5 hrs

From Lyon : Motorway (A7) to Orange then the motorway (A9) direction Nimes-Montpellier
From Montpellier : Motorway (A9) direction Orange/Lyon

For customers arriving late, the drop off point is by locked fence on the quayside. From this point there is a very short walk to access the boats.
